Beggar's Tale

Music and Lyrics by Carl Baldassarre (Entropy Music-ASCAP)

I hear the children cry out in fright.
I see the beggar in your way.
Why are the elders alone in their rooms,
Filled with despair and dismay?

Silently watching while casualties mount,
Hurried to conquer the day.
Will now the humbled be hardened at last,
Or will their voices be raised?

Is a man unto himself?
Alone he stands with nothing else.
From a point all rivers flow,
Borne of hills thy mountains grow.
And they grow…

These are my children who cry out in fright,
I am the beggar in your way.
Soon you’re the elder alone in the room,
No one can hear what you say.
